I have been on a lot of internet marketing blog and forums and one of the questions I see asked a lot is this: “how do I get more traffic to my website?”
That’s a very good question because traffic is very important to the success of any online business. Without traffic, no one will see your website and thus you’ll make no money. Today however, I want to focus on a different question. This question is: “how do I increase the conversion rate of my website?”
You see, traffic is very important but if your website doesn’t convert then all of that traffic means nothing. So although you can’t survive without traffic, it’s equally important to address your websites conversion rates to make even more money online.
Take A Look At This Scenario
Let’s say you have a website that is making $500 per month but you really want to increase your revenue and make $1000 per month while promoting/selling a product for $20. What this means is that you have to double your revenue.
But ow do you do this?
There are two things to take into consideration here:
- Your traffic – to double your revenue you’d have to double your traffic
- Your conversion rate – double your conversion rate and you double your income
Getting traffic is not an easy task and it is even more harder to double your current traffic. This is because there are too much external variables to consider. If you are paying for traffic then more than likely you will have to double your adspend which means you’ll profit less. If you are driving free traffic then you will have to double your efforts and bare in mind that there are so much you can do in a day.
On the other hand, you can make some simple tweaks on your website and double your conversion rate literally overnight!
How To Increase Your Website Conversion Rate
In order to double your conversion rates, you will need to do a lot of testing. You want to track what people are doing on your website so that you can better serve them. So you must first ask yourself some very important questions:
- Why do people come to my website in the first place
- Are you getting your message across to your visitors
- What actions do you want your visitors to take
- Are your visitors doing what you want them to?
- Or is that your visitors are leaving your website too soon?
These are some of the question that you need to ask so better increase your website conversion rates. Now in order to find out most of these stats, you will need to install an analytical program on your website. Google Analytics is a good program and it’s free.
Little Tweaks You Can Make To Help Double Your Conversion Rates
1. Decrease Your Bounce Rate
Once you have analytics installed, you’ll be able to see your bounce rate and how long your visitors are spending on your websites. If you bounce rate is too high, then more than likely your visitors are not getting the message that you have what they are looking for.
Solution: Ensure that your headline is as descriptive as possible and in bold. That way as your visitors land on your website they know that you are speaking to them. Another thing you can do to decrease your bounce rate is to test different layouts of your website or even the background color of your websites.
2. Make Sure You Have A Strong Call To Action
If you don’t have a call to action on your website then your visitors wont know what to do. It’s important that you don’t assume that you visitors ‘should’ know that they should take a specific action.
Solution: Have a strong and clearly outlined call to action. If you want your visitors to click a link then tell them to click the link. If you want them to fill in their name and email addresses in a form, tell them to do it. Also, it’s very important that your call to action stands out on your website because you don’t want your visitors missing it.
3. Make Sure That Your Content Speaks To Your Visitor
If your content doesn’t speak to each and every one of your visitors that lands your websites, then it’s going to add to the website having a high bounce rate.
Solution: Do some research to f out exactly who you are talking to, what language they speak, what problems they are having and give them the solution that they are looking for.
When it comes to making money online, you are dealing with real people and as such you should treat them likewise. Every person that lands on your website should feel as if you are talking directly to them and them alone. This should be evident in your writing style and the way you bring across your message. I would go even further to say that if writing is not your thing then you should hirer someone who is more capable than you to do a better job. After all, it could be the difference between your site having a 1% conversion rate or a 2% conversion rate.
Getting tons of traffic to your website is good but from the tips above on how to increase your website conversion rates, you can see that traffic is not everything. It’s equally important to adjust your website’s conversion rates because just doing some testing and making little tweaks can literally double your income from the same amount of traffic.
